Trend Spotting: Corduroy

I never imagined that I would love corduroy. Ever. I think the last time I wore it was in 7th grade- I had a pair of pants that were a shade of brown or dark green, I can’t remember exactly what color. But I loved those things. Fast forward about 15 years later, I disliked everything about cords. The texture was horrible to the touch, it never flattered anyone and I just had an overall bad taste towards anything made from it. Well, I tried on a beautiful high-waisted pair from h&m, and dammit- I fell in love. They were not only flattering and beautiful, but they were fun and had an attitude to them. I put them on and immediately felt like a ’70s disco queen with roller skates. My taste has certainly shifted and I have embraced my new found love for corduroy. I adore the ’70s fashion anyways, so I think that was a driving force in my obsession with my cords. Lesson here: your fashion tastes are always changing and you have to follow your gut in things you want to try on.
